Kateri Native Ministry

Donna Naughton - Kateri Native Ministry of Ottawa

Donna Naughton
Executive Director

Donna Naughton has served as the Executive Director of the Kateri Native Ministry of Ottawa since 2016. She leads one of the longest-standing Indigenous-led spiritual and reconciliation organizations in the region. She began her career as a Registered Practical Nurse, and moved forward and attained her BSW Honours and currently holds a Master of Social Work Degree. She has strengthened Indigenous-led programming, expanded partnerships with Indigenous, church and educational organizations, and guided the ministry through organizational renewal and long-term strategic planning. She fosters healing and reconciliation through land-based learning and the reclamation of Indigenous knowledge, culture and identity, acknowledging the harms of the past and supporting pathways toward restoration and renewed connection.

Saint Kateri Tekawitha

Our Patron Saint, St. Kateri Tekawitha, 1656-1680, was an Indigenous lay woman who converted to Catholicism at the age of 19. Known as the Lily of the Mohawks, she is an inspiration for her humility, faith and devotion.

A number of miracles have been attributed to her, and there are several shrines devoted to her across the United States and Canada. In 2012 she was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI.
